The Asia Pacific region covers a vast geographic area, possesses more than half of the world population, and represents a diverse cultural heritage.

With 19 members of physical societies and institutions from all across Asia Pacific region, since its founding in 1990, the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (AAPPS) has been devoted to the promotion of research, teaching and regional collaboration in physics, as well as to strengthening the ties between Asia Pacific physicists and their counterparts in other parts of the world.

As President of AAPPS for the tenure of 2008 to 2010, with the genuine support of the Council, I will lead the collective efforts of the member societies and institutions to promote further development of the Association, so as to fulfill its mission of enhancing public awareness and recognition of the physical activities in Asia Pacific region.  We will adhere to the Association’s philosophy of “development”, “innovation” and "pioneering spirit".

Through the integrated and collective wisdom and foresight of Asia Pacific physicists, AAPPS will try to contribute more innovative ideas and approaches to solve global challenges from the viewpoint of physics, so as to benefit the whole world.
