abstract
The eclipse predicted by Roemer was 53 periods from the one in
opposition. The lost equation for the retardation of light was
reconstructed by the present author. The figure of 22 minutes
was a constant in the equation. The delay time of 10 minutes
became a mystery. The reason why Roemer did not show the value
of the velocity of light is discussed.
